In 1972, some Australian members of the military are flying in an RAF helicopter. They spot something unexpected as they fly above this remote part of Papua New Guinea, which is nothing but jungles and wetland.
In the middle of a jungle, there is a huge, partially submerged plane. It’s the same plane that has been missing now for 30 years! The military has finally solved the mystery that has captivated people for all these years. It sure does seem so.
Papua New Guinea
Once you know where the aircraft is, it makes sense that nobody has been able to find it for all these years. The aircraft was located in a nation that is considered to be one of the least explored countries on earth, both geographically and culturally.
Papua New Guinea has some of the most exotic floras and faunas in the world. Researchers believe that there are many species yet to be discovered in the country. The cohabiting ecosystems of the country include swamps, mountains and volcanoes.
Agaiambo
The Australian soldiers flew over Agaiambo, a swamp that was infested with crocodiles. In this swamp, they found the missing aircraft. This would explain why the aircraft was not found sooner.
The Agaimbo is a very well-preserved region, so not many people, tourists included, have access to it. The Agaiambo/Agaumbu, a group that lived in the marshlands of South Africa and was now extinct, used to live there. The area was inhabited only by these two people.
