1920’s ‘Flappers’
The Flapper style was popularized in the 1920s after the Gibson Girl. The Gibson Girl persona had changed dramatically. The women wore loose clothing, hats and short hairstyles. During this time, the government approved the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right of vote.
Margaret Gorman
Margaret Gorman, who won the title Miss American in 1921 was considered to have the perfect body type at the time. She was thin and long, giving her a boyish appearance. The hourglass figure of the previous decade had changed significantly.
