Many mothers (and even more fathers!) are unaware that lactation is difficult. In the media, it appears to be a beautiful and peaceful process, but in actuality, many new mothers have great difficulty getting their child to latch on. Occasionally, their nipples will bleed and become fractured and sore.
On the other hand, it is also true that breast feeding reduces work in some respects. For instance, you do not need to maintain as many bottles on hand, nor do you need to sterilize these bottles repeatedly!
When you have a newborn, you will discover that it takes a tremendous amount of effort to keep them content, healthy, and quiet. Creating less laundry for yourself is a significant advantage in this instance.
