5.Gram-negative bacteria
This is a very new science that requires extensive additional research before we can delve into it in greater depth. However, suffice it to state that we are now discovering that bacteria play a crucial role in human health.
We frequently consider microorganisms to be ‘germs’ – i.e., harmful to our health. In reality, microbes are more frequently beneficial than harmful. And the beneficial type provides us with a vast array of essential benefits, spanning from the production of key neurotransmitters to the digestion of food to the enhancement of the immune system.
During a natural birth, mothers actually pass on their own’microbiome’ to their children: as the infant cries as it travels through the body, it actually consumes some of the vaginal bacteria! Babies birthed via cesarean may consequently have a relatively compromised immune system.
It is very likely that breast milk provides an additional way for infants to obtain ‘healthy bacteria’ from their mothers, which could enhance their intelligence, immune systems, moods, and much more!
