We stated that breast milk is ideally adapted to provide infants with all the nutrients they require in an easily absorbable form. And we mentioned that this makes perfect logic, given that we evolved to consume breast milk in this manner.
As it turns out, breast milk contains everything a newborn requires for the first six months of life, and its composition changes as the infant ages. Colostrum is an excellent example. This is the ‘first milk’ that develops in the first few days of a baby’s life to aid in the development of the digestive tract.
Sure, there are other options that may provide the same benefit, but this is the perfect illustration of how the body is ideally suited to produce exactly what the infant needs at the precise moment it needs it!
