Sophie’s father is disheveled
The suspicion of Mrs. Anderson grew with each passing day. She would see Sophie’s dad drop her off every morning. The man who was once well-groomed now looked disheveled. The father-daughter exchange was short; the hug between them was tight and almost desperate.
Sophie would say, “Daddy’s just a little stressed,” when asked if she was okay at home.
