Treating scoliosis

Adults and children with severe spine curvature, such as scoliosis may need a special treatment or assistance. Here are a few options:
Spinal surgery
The surgeons straighten the spine using special rods or hooks before fusing the spinal cord with the bone pieces. The spinal surgery provides lumbar support and reduces spinal nerve pressure to ease back pain. Instability of the spine is one of the possible side effects. The surgeon will remove certain bone fragments and insert rods into the spine in order to straighten the spine. This operation also decreases the flexibility of a patient undergoing spinal surgery.
