Shin Splits: 14 symptoms
14. Fracture and Break Probability Increased
Shin Splints sound exactly like they do, and are just as painful as you would expect. This is not something you can ignore or treat yourself at home. You should consult your doctor as soon as you become aware of the problem. Doing anything else will only cause you more pain and increase the risk of further injury.
You may also be at a higher risk of developing deeper fractures in your shins if you’ve had undiagnosed shin splits. This is because repeated strains are placed on an injury that can’t handle the strain.
You should consult your doctor if you think you are on your way to breaking or fracturing something. If you believe you have already done so, you may want to visit an emergency room.
