7. Increase Oxygen levels
Cordyceps mushrooms are found in mountainous regions of China on a specific species of caterpillar. Due to its rarity, it is difficult to find a genuine cordyceps. Most commercially available cordyceps are grown in laboratories.
Cordyceps mushrooms are effective in increasing the oxygen level in blood. The fungus increases hemoglobin. Hemoglobin, a protein which carries oxygen through the body before absorbing carbon dioxide, is responsible for this. Carbon dioxide is released when hemoglobin returns back to the lungs.
The powdered Cordyceps mushroom is available in capsule form. They can train at high altitudes without feeling the negative effects of reduced oxygen levels. Cordyceps is also beneficial for recovery following surgery as it increases blood flow and oxygen in organs and tissues. These claims are not backed by any clinical evidence. Athletes and patients have reported positive effects when using the mushroom.
