He knew that he could not handle this situation himself. He had decided to keep this secret out of fear that it would drag on.

Calling the Police
Mark called the police immediately and told them about his discovery. The first reaction of the police was disbelief. Mark’s story sounded like it was made up, even though it was extremely strange.
It was only his encounter with the former owner that proved this. They should take this very seriously.
One officer is sent
Mark was able to convince officers to send someone to his home to check out the find. Mark knew they would be able to tell if they took one look at his yard that there was something worth investigating.
