5. Swollen Glands
Impetigo is one of many infections that can cause swollen glands. The lymph nodes filter fluids as they move throughout the body. This helps to reduce waste. They can swell in response to an infection of any kind. This is a great way for parents of young children to check for signs of illness.
Look for swollen lymph nodes at the front of your neck, under the jaw. This area may feel puffy or have a lump that feels like it’s filled with liquid. It could be impetigo, or another type of infection. It’s important that you rest your child and take him to the doctor. The doctor will monitor the swelling of lymph nodes in order to determine if there is a more serious underlying cause.
Lymph nodes can also become tender and sore. Applying a hot compress to the affected area may be helpful for children.
