The bacteria that causes impetigo prefers dark and warm areas. It will then collect in the folds of skin and, for young children, around the diaper. The child’s diaper can often cause this area to be wet.

Most children are not allowed to wear diapers. If you are using cloth diapers, it is important that they be washed thoroughly at a high temperature. You may want to buy a size larger for disposable diapers to allow more room to breathe.
