The idea of a deep-sea search for aliens already soundspromising. Swedish scientists who conducted such an expedition did not disappoint when they found what many thought was a hidden spaceship at the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
The explorers are not certain what this anomaly actually is, even though they denied it was a ship. Peter Lindberg of the Ocean Explorer team said that it was a “natural geological form.” Many people responded by saying, “Who said that alien spaceships had to be metal?”
18. Find a WWII plane in the jungle with coffee still in Thermoses
Location: Rabaul, New Britain, Papua New Guinea
Year of discovery: 1992
Est. Value: $9 million*
The “Swamp Ghost”, a Boeing B-17E Bomber, was no doubt responsible for a lot of destruction during World War II. The plane was hit by enemy fire in 1942 and crashed in the jungles in Papua New Guinea. The Swamp Ghost was shot down during a raid against Japanese forces in Rabaul (New Britain).
The plane remained untouched for many decades. The kunai and mire preserved the plane well when it was found in 1972. When it was discovered, the Swamp Ghost had been so well preserved that coffee thermoses were still in place in its cockpit. Some sources estimate the value of a well preserved WWII plane at around $9 million.
