68. Living WWII bombs found in Orlando Neighborhood
Location: Orlando, Florida
2008 is the Year that was Discovered
Est. Estimated Value: $10 Million* (Cost of Cleanup).
It’s not as offensive as gold or other treasure. It was found that there were live World War II Bombs hidden in a neighborhood of Orlando, Florida.
The complex used to be the PineCastle Jeep Range where WWII engineers tested their bombs. In a $10-million effort, the Army Corps was required to clean up all of the bombs. In 2008, little red flags marked the locations of the buried bombs in the well-kept yards. People were understandably outraged when the U.S. government allowed buildings to be constructed on an old bomb-testing area without informing them.
