Gold coins are the traditional idea of treasure. We all expect gold coins to be inside a treasure chest when a pirate in a film opens it. These treasures are not usually found within the walls of manors. However, this is what happened at an historic property located in Brittany.
When renovating the manor, construction workers discovered a hidden metal box. The box contained 239 rare coins minted between the reigns of King Louis XIII & XIV. Workers also found a cache near a beam of wood. These finds are worth a total of around $356,000.

What appears to be buried treasure in some cases is actually stolentreasure. The Emanuels in Staten Island were thrilled when they discovered a rusted, rotting metal box buried under their backyard. Matthew and Maria found the metal box as they planted trees.
They found $52,000 worth of valuables inside the bag, including $100 bills and diamonds. In the bag, they also found an address belonging to the Emanuels neighbors. Matthew and Maria asked the neighbors next door if they’d ever been robbed. The neighbors admitted that they were robbed several years ago. Long story short, NYPD was able to reunite the victims of the robbery with their valuables worth $52,000.
