Archaeologists in Harlaa (Ethiopia) discovered an ancient city which shed light on trade history between Asia and East Africa. Researchers became interested in this site after hearing Harlaa legends of a “city full of giants” which existed there long ago.
Locals came across the city ruins, and because they were built of large stones, assumed the builders to be a race giants. The site, which dates back centuries, has produced a variety of artifacts from China, India and Egypt, including rock crystal, glass, glass beads and cowry shells. Archaeologists concluded that the ancient city in East Africa was a major cosmopolitan center.
