11. Do not “pop” your ears

Most people “pop” their ears when they feel their nose, ear and head are stuffed. When you squeeze your nose shut and blow air through the nose channel, it will go into your ear, your nose and throatcanal. This is called “popping your ears” because you hear a popping sound in your head.

This may seem like a good way to open your ears. If you are experiencing pain in your ears, you may be tempted to try it. It can cause damage to your eardrums by increasing the pressure inside your ears.
