Croup: 14 signs and symptoms

Croup: 14 signs and symptoms

14. Fever

A feveris also a common symptom. The body tries to eliminate the cause of the illness by causing a fever.

High fevers are not necessarily a bad thing. They can even help you recover faster from your illness. Fever can be dangerous, however, if it is allowed to become too high or persist for too long. A high fever can lead to dehydration and cause other issues. Drinking lots of water is the best way to treat this condition.

A high temperature in young children is anything above 37.5C. It may seem alarming, however it is not usually necessary to visit a doctor until the temperature exceeds 38 degrees. You should seek medical attention immediately to avoid serious dehydration.

It is always better to be overly cautious than under-cautious.
