7. Osteoporosis Prevention
Osteoporosisis the disease of bones where density and quality are reduced. As people age, the bones disintegrate and new cells are created simultaneously. This is called remodeling. The bones of people with osteoporosis, however, lose their cells faster than the body can replace them. The bones become weak and brittle. In worst case scenarios, they may break from a slight bump or sneeze.
The first sign of osteoporosis is not always apparent, as it occurs in silent stages. Osteoporosis can affect anyone, but post-menopausal woman are more susceptible to it.
Researchers have found that chamomile extract can stimulate osteoblast activity and has an anti-estrogenic action. Osteoblasts, or bone-making cells, are the cells responsible for creating bones. Estrogen may affect the degeneration in the bones, according to studies. Chamomile tea may help to increase bone density, and thus reduce the effects of osteoporosis.
