14. Fainting
It can be traumatic to break a rib. It can have many effects that go beyond pain. The pain can be very severe when a rib is recently broken.
As a result of this extreme pain, a person may faint. It is dangerous to faint as it may cause more injury as you fall. The motion of fainting may cause further damage to the fracture site. The body often faints due to extreme pain. This is because the blood pressure drops as a reaction.
After a major accident, many people lose consciousness or faint. If you faint in a dangerous area of an accident, it can be problematic. If a person is experiencing symptoms of broken bones or ribs, they should call an ambulance immediately.
