10. Loose bowel movement
Amyloidosis can cause severe side effects. Affected individuals may experience the beginnings of loose bowels. When a person has extreme looseness in the bowels it expels minerals and fundamental liquids from the body.
To maintain metabolic and neurologic capacity, the body relies on a delicate mineral and electrolyte balance. This imbalance can lead to a deterioration of the sensory system. Mineral irregularities caused by lack of hydration due to loose bowels can lead to seizures.
If the patient does not receive quick hydration via an IV, they could end up in a coma when one of their seizures occurs. Drinking water after each episode of loose bowels will replenish the body’s electrolytes, minerals and water.
