1. Drink More Water
Dehydration is a major contributor to blood clots. Blood thickens when you do not have enough water. Your risk of a blood clot increases. Although experts recently questioned the recommendation of six to eight glasses of 8-ounce water per day, ensuring you drink that amount can provide you with peace of mind.
You can also check the color of urine to see if you are getting enough. It should be light-yellow or almost clear. If the color is brown or orange, it means you’re not drinking enough water to reduce your risk of developing DVT.
