Historically, baking soda has been utilised. According to reports, many ancient civilizations used baking soda to create bread and other foods requiring leavening. When making baked products from scratch today, baking soda is always used.

Without baking soda, baked goods will not rise properly. If you purchase a cake mix from the grocery store, it may not rise even if you use the proper cake pan. By preparing the cake from scratch, it will rise as intended. Do not substitute baking powder for baking soda. There is a distinction.

Baking soda is significantly more potent than baking powder. The baked product will not rise as well as it would with baking soda. People sometimes use baking powder instead of baking soda because they mistakenly believe that both ingredients perform the same function.
