- Consider Additional Risk Factors

When you suspect you have contracted ringworm, you should avoid more than just scratching and poking at the suspected infection. There are a few additional factors that can worsen the condition immediately and lead to a variety of additional medical complications, such as an infection penetrating the epidermis and entering the body, where it can cause severe internal damage.
Small things that can aggravate ringworm include apparel that is too tight and irritates the skin, as well as the detergent used on the skin. These are not the causes of ringworm, but they undoubtedly won’t help the condition. Consult your doctor if you’re uncertain what could aggravate your ringworm, or use a process of elimination while it heals.
Avoid anything that has the potential to irritate your skin or expose it to irritants. It increases the likelihood that your ringworm will be much more difficult to treat.
