6 Never Scratching or Picking

When you develop a rash, have a chronic skin condition, have been injured by an insect, or acquire a condition like ringworm, one of the first things your doctor will tell you is this: Avoid scratching it. It holds true for both ringworm and measles.
Additionally, this holds true for a variety of epidermis conditions. Even though you may feel compelled to scratch, treatment is the only method to eliminate ringworm. Picking and scratching will only irritate the affected area further, and may cause you to scratch through the skin, allowing an infection to enter and converting a minor issue into a much more dangerous (and potentially fatal) one.
Scratching it has no effect. Ever. As much as possible, you should proceed with treatment and resist the urge to touch ringworm (and other skin conditions).
