6. Clunking Sensation
If you experience a grinding sensation when you place your palm on your tendon, you may be suffering from crepitus. One of the symptoms of tendonitis is crepitus. The grinding sensation is caused by edema and inflammation surrounding the damaged tendon.
When a person has tendonitis, the injured and damaged cells are brought to the surface. This is what causes the grating sensation in the affected area. The presence of grinding sensations does not necessarily indicate tendonitis. This sensation may also be caused by degeneration of the cartilage surrounding the bone or misalignment of a joint.
When tendon damage occurs, a popping or snapping sound is detected when the tendon stretches across the bone. Consider additional tendonitis symptoms in order to determine the cause of the grating sensations you are experiencing.
