14 Reasons Why you have Upper Abdominal Pain

14 Reasons Why you have Upper Abdominal Pain

13. Acid Reflux

Acid Reflux is caused when stomach acids try to reverse and move up the throat. Acid reflux symptoms can include a sore or burning throat, as well as a painful feeling in the upper abdomen. Acid reflux can also cause nausea and vomiting. Most of the time, certain foods can increase acid levels, making acid reflux worse.

Acid reflux is more common in foods like spicy foods, greasy food, and oily foods. Certain foods can also cause acid reflux in some people. The pain of acid reflux usually only lasts a few hours, but it can sometimes last for several days.

You can treat it with over-the-counter medications or by drinking milk, which soothes the stomach and stops acid flowing backward. For severe cases, prescription medications are available. Some doctors will also suggest dietary changes, or changes in your schedule. For example, eating smaller meals or earlier during the day.
