7. Temporary hip osteoporosis
It is a rare condition in which the upper side of the femur experiences transient bone loss. Age-related osteoporosis, unlike transient osteoporosis, is painless and causes the degeneration of bones throughout the body.
In transient osteoporosis, the femoral head becomes brittle and loses density. This hip bone deterioration may lead to a pathological fracture. The causes of transient osteoporosis are still largely a matter of conjecture, as no definitive causes have been established. Changes in hormonal balance, abnormal mechanical load on the femur and pelvic bones, and the obstruction of some blood vessels around the hips are among the hypothesized causes of transient osteoporosis.
It may be treated with anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy, a healthy diet, or weight-bearing restrictions to alleviate pressure on the hips during certain activities.
