- Tendinitis of the Hip Flexor
Hip flexor tendonitis is an inflammation of the tendon connecting the psoas to the iliac bone. This is caused by excessive use of the hip flexors, which inflames the iliopsoas and rectus tendon sheaths. Hip flexor tendonitis is caused by repetitive or incidental trauma, overuse or minor injuries to the tendon sheaths.
This condition is prevalent among professional athletes who frequently use their hip flexors for speed-based, long-distance, and uphill activities. In addition, switching to a new exercise regimen is a primary cause of hip flexor tendinitis.
X-rays or MRI are utilized to diagnose this condition. A person diagnosed with tendinitis of the hip flexors may wish to reduce or cease performing the activity that caused the condition. Anthropically conducted surgery may also be followed by physical therapy to promote a steady recovery.
