5.Controlled Respiration
When you are ill and experiencing nausea, you may find it difficult to breathe effectively. You may experience stomach churning and rapid respiration. This can make the nausea worse. Controlling your respiration may aid in its elimination. Inhale deeply through your nostril and exhale through your mouth. This can be effective if you are nauseous due to an environmental factor, such as an aversion to a cuisine or a foul odor. It can also alleviate motion sickness in a vehicle, airplane, or amusement park excursion.
If nausea is caused by a more severe condition, such as a stomach virus or other illness, controlled breathing may not be effective.
Additionally, controlled breathing distracts the mind from the unpleasant sensation. You concentrate more on your respiration pattern than on your nausea or its cause.
