3 Electrolyte-Based Solution
Electrolytes are the compounds and minerals (such as magnesium) required for the body’s most fundamental processes. This is one of the first things your body will lose when fighting an infection such as gastroenteritis, typically through the condition’s associated symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea.
This is one of the reasons why dehydration must be closely monitored in all ill individuals, and not just those with gastroenteritis. This is typically true for the majority of conditions that cause dehydration, not just gastroenteritis.
Loss of too many electrolytes can lead to further physical issues, such as muscle cramps and spasms, as well as further issues, such as cardiac problems, which can make the infection fatal.
Replace electrolytes in the body with a mixture of sodium, sugar, and water; this, along with the appropriate fruit juice, can be sufficient.
