- Clogged Nose
Adults and children infected with parvovirus may experience nasal discharge. In the early phases of parvovirus, a simple postnasal drip may develop into a runny nose. In severe cases, parvovirus can transform a runny nostril into severe congestion, making it difficult to breathe.
The nasal tissues are infected by parvovirus. When these tissues become irritated, inflammation ensues as the immune system attempts to eliminate the parvovirus. This natural reaction thinned the nasal mucus so that it dripped out of the nostril rather than down the throat.
Numerous other conditions, such as allergies, the common cold, and even influenza, can produce a runny nose, making it difficult to identify parvovirus as the cause. Although this is a mild sign of parvovirus, if it has progressed to the point of congestion, it can be aggravating and even disrupt sleep.
