4. The fever
Fever is an early symptom of parvovirus. When an irritant from the outside, such as a virus or bacterium, attacks the body, the immune system goes into action. This normal response to infections and viruses raises the body’s temperature as the immune system attempts to reset and repel pathogens.
The hypothalamus is responsible for controlling the body’s temperature. When parvovirus or other forms of infections are detected in the body, the immune system sends a signal to the hypothalamus. Fever caused by parvovirus cannot be cured or treated, but it can be managed with over-the-counter medication.
Typically, Tylenol, Motrin, or Paracetamol are used to reduce fevers. A person’s temperature can be lowered by resting, drinking fluids, and remaining in a cool, stable environment. Occasionally, a person only develops a fever in the early stages of parvovirus infection.
