A hot shower or bath can aid in muscle relaxation and relieve tension migraines. Additionally, you can add Epsom salt to your bath to further soothe your muscles. Epsom salt is a natural muscle relaxant and can help reduce systemic inflammation. Additionally, you can light candles, play soft music, dim the lights, and attempt to unwind as much as possible.
As soon as your muscles begin to loosen and unwind, your tension headache will subside. For complete pain relief, you may need to take a hot shower or bath more than once per day. While trying to unwind, you can also take pain medication to alleviate your headache. If you are unable to take hot baths or showers frequently enough to relieve your headache, try relaxing in a steamy or hot restroom.
