2.Frost and Heat
All types of pain can be relieved with ice and heat, notably tension headache pain. You must apply a cold or warm compress to your head for five to ten minutes, or until the discomfort subsides. The ice and heat enhance blood circulation, which can alleviate discomfort. If you cannot tolerate having the ice pack or heating pad directly on your head, you can position a towel over your skin and apply the ice pack or heating pad on top of the towel.
To avoid getting damp as the ice melts, you may need to replace the towels. You can attempt heat and cold treatments together or separately to determine which one is most effective. You may use ice and heat as often as necessary per day. If you experience tension migraines on a regular basis, it may be prudent to consult a physician to rule out serious underlying causes.
