14 Factors Contributing to Serotonin Syndrome

10. Natural Supplements

People are led to believe that by taking herbal supplements, they are enhancing their overall health. Herbal supplements are generally harmless and can enhance your overall health. This is especially true if you struggle to consume enough of the essential vitamins and nutrients your body requires. However, there are a few issues with many of the available botanical supplements.

Unregulation of these supplements is one of the greatest concerns. This means that the manufacturer of herbal supplements can include substances that may or may not be suitable for consumption. Additionally, there are herbal supplements that have been linked to serotonin syndrome. Ginseng and St. John’s wort are examples of botanical supplements that require caution. There is a possibility that some dietary supplements may cause unwanted adverse effects, despite the fact that the majority are relatively safe.
