- General Depression
When accompanied by other symptoms, a sense of general malaise may indicate a salmonella infection. There are more than 2,000 strains of salmonella bacteria, and each has a unique effect on the body. The strain of Salmonella Typhi liable for the symptom of malaise is a particular strain.
Salmonella Typhi is the strain of bacterium responsible for causing typhoid, a severe form of fever. To prevent the transmission of typhoid, it must be treated appropriately and promptly. Although this particular salmonella infection will resolve without medical treatment within two weeks, it is possible to transmit the infection for much longer. Not everyone who is infected with Salmonella Typhi will develop symptoms, but everyone who carries the bacteria can transmit it to others.
