- Joint Ache
Joint discomfort is frequently present alongside other symptoms of salmonella poisoning. Occasionally, a person will seek treatment for their salmonella infection that may be ineffective.
If the infection does not resolve on its own or if the treatment is ineffective, it can cause joint pain that persists. Frequently, joint pain is accompanied by eye irritation and urinary issues. These secondary complications are caused by the migration of microorganisms from the stomach and digestive tract to other parts of the body. The longer microbes are present, the more areas they can infect.
Salmonella infections are unpleasant and, in some cases, highly disruptive, but the majority of infections clear up within a week. In rare instances, medical professionals recommend plenty of fluids and rest, and treatment is not necessary. Salmonella rarely causes serious complications, but joint inflammation can lead to arthritis over time.
