- Lung tumor
Lung cancer is a form of cancer that primarily affects smokers and their airways. Smoking, passive smoking, contaminant exposure, and genetic inheritance are the most common causes of lung cancer. Non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer are both types of lung cancer. Lung cancer symptoms include bloody coughing, severe chest discomfort, and drastic weight loss. Patients with lung cancer also experience excruciating respiratory infections, fatigue, and appetite loss. These symptoms only manifest in advanced stages of malignancy.
Early detection of lung cancer allows medical professionals to treat the disease. If smoking is the underlying cause of the disease, treatment options include cessation, chemotherapy, surgery, thoracotomy, and palliative care, among others. Advanced cases of lung cancer are difficult to contain, particularly when the tumor has paralyzed a substantial portion of the liver.
