6.Managing Diabetes
It is impossible not to dislike carbohydrates. Whether it’s in cakes or pastries, processed as candies, or even that box of chocolates you were given in number five, sugar is everywhere. It’s quite unfortunate if you have a family history of diabetes, particularly if you have a sweet tooth. It is encouraging to know that nettle tea can also control diabetes! In fact, stinging nettles contain substances that mimic insulin’s effects.
Studies have also demonstrated that stinging nettle can reduce blood sugar levels. In a three-month study involving 46 participants, ingesting 500 mg of stinging nettle extract three times daily significantly decreased blood sugar levels in comparison to placebo. In the correct dose, stinging nettles can serve as an effective alternative to other medicines, but more research is required to confirm this.
