4. Kefir
This fermented milk beverage is made with organic goat’s or cow’s dairy. This recipe includes kefir grains in the milk. These lactic-acid bacteria and yeast cultures look like cauliflower sprigs.
During the fermentation process of 24 hours, the bacteria in the kefir grains consume the milk sugars. They colonize quickly and transform the beverage into Kefir. After fermentation, the grains are removed and used in future batches.
The Turkish word “keyif” is the origin of “Kefir,” which means “good feeling”. The beverage has been a popular drink in Southwest Asia and Eastern Europe for centuries. Kefir is thinner and has a different consistency from yogurt, but it’s still thicker than regular milk.
The drink is high in folate, biotin and biotin. It also contains B12, calcium, and K-vitamins. Kefir is rich in probiotics, enzymes, and minerals that help fight candida, increase bone density, and improve gut health.
